Backup & Restore
Liberdus allows you to back up and restore your account data across devices and platforms. Backups are encrypted and portable, enabling secure migration without losing messages, keys, or settings.
A backup file contains your Liberdus account data, including keys, contacts, and preferences. You can use this file to restore your account on another device or browser instance.
Note: The backup file is encrypted. Keep it safe and do not share it with anyone.
How to Back Up an Account
Secure your data by saving an offline backup file.
Steps
- Open the Menu -> Backup.
- Click the Download button.
- Choose a destination folder on your device to save the backup.
- Ensure Save File is clicked, then click Okay.
Important
- The backup file contains your account keys, settings, and other important information.
- Store it safely (e.g., encrypted USB drive, password manager, or a secure offline record).
- We recommend encrypting your backups to prevent data exposure to third parties.
How to Back Up and Encrypt an Account
Add an extra layer of protection to your backup.
Steps
- Open the Menu -> Backup.
- Enter a strong password, then re-enter it to confirm.
- Click the Download button.
- Choose a destination folder on your device to save the backup.
- Ensure Save File is clicked, then click Okay.
Important
- You’ll need this password later to restore the file.
- Lost passwords cannot be recovered- store it securely.

How to Restore an Account (Unencrypted)
Recover an account from a standard (unencrypted) backup file.
Steps
- Go to Menu -> Restore.
- Tap Browse… and select your backup file.
- Leave the Password field empty.
- (Optional) Tick Overwrite existing accounts if you want to replace them.
- Tap Load Account.
Your Liberdus account will be restored and ready to use.
How to Restore an Account (Encrypted)
Recover an account that was saved with password protection.
Steps
- Go to Menu -> Restore.
- Tap Browse… and select your encrypted backup file.
- Enter your backup password in Password (if encrypted).
- (Optional) Tick Overwrite existing accounts if needed.
- Tap Load Account.
The encrypted backup will decrypt and restore your account securely.
